THE DIGEST
Major stories of the week 📰
This week was all about cookie recipes, football uniforms, and Christmas lights. Fun, right? Here are the 3 big stories that had all of us talking:
🍪 We announced details for the Great Naptown Bake Off going on now through November 30. Send your favorite holiday cookie recipe to [email protected] and our team will be testing them in the kitchen at Black Market Bakers to pick our favorite. The winner will be announced on December 6 and will receive a $50 gift card to Williams Sonoma, a $50 gift card to Black Market Bakers, and the distinct pleasure of having their recipe published on the Naptown Scoop Journal.
☠️ Navy revealed its uniforms paying tribute to the Jolly Rogers, which players will wear for the upcoming Army-Navy game on December 14 at FedEx Field. Created in 1943, the Jolly Rogers are the most lethal squadron in Naval Aviation, which might be why players will be bearing the bones when it goes up against the undefeated, #19-ranked Army.
🚤 You might’ve heard USA Today publishes a list of the Best Holiday Parades across the country, and after the Eastport Yacht Club Lights Parade beat out quite a few big cities for the No. 4 slot last year, we’re pretty confident we can get them to the top of the list in 2024. Be sure to vote every day in the Readers’ Choice 2024 poll and pass it along to your friends. 9 voting days left!

Where were we Wednesday? 📸
ANSWER:
This lovely skyward view is aboard the Schooner Woodwind or Woodwind II. We’re not really sure. I don’t know if it’s possible to fan-girl/boy out on a boat, but at the Scoop, we kind of swoon over the Schooner Woodwind. She’s a beaut, isn’t she? And that lovely coastline in the background with those deep blue waves . . . not half bad either. ♥️
Thanks for playing and congrats to @annapolismarty, @darylcooke, and @mommadell for being the first 3 to answer correctly. 🎉

WHAT’S HAPPENIN’
Foodie Friday 🦃 🥃 🐟
🥪 We can hardly wait for Turkey Day, so we’re hitting you with the award-winning sandwich from Capriotti’s. “The Bobbie” is a Thanksgiving feast in every bite, featuring slow-roasted turkey, cranberry sauce, handmade stuffing, and mayo. Visit their Annapolis, Pasadena, or Gambrills location to get your hands on one.
🥨 Speaking of Thanksgiving . . . the PA Dutch Farmers Market (aka the Amish Market) is perfect for fresh ingredients or homemade shortcuts for the big meal. Find them at The Harbour Center and grab a pretzel while you wait—you’ll thank us later! Special opening hours next week include Tuesday (11/26) 9 AM–5 PM, Weds (11/27) 8 AM–5 PM, closed Thursday; Friday (11/29) 8:30 AM–6 PM, and Saturday (11/30) 8 AM–3 PM.
🦪 The much-anticipated new restaurant Seasalt is now open in Eastport, offering fresh, seasonal seafood, classic cocktails, and more. Reservations and walk-ins welcome!
Lights on the Bay starts Sunday ✨
One of Annapolis’ favorite holiday traditions is back! Now in its 30th year, Lights on the Bay will dazzle visitors with festive displays from November 24 to January 1. This annual drive-through experience along the Chesapeake Bay at Sandy Point State Park offers a magical, weather-proof way to celebrate the holiday season while supporting the SPCA. Check out the admission details.
And don’t forget the special preview nights for people and pups — this Friday and Saturday (11/22-23) is Lights and Leashes, a pet-friendly walk-through experience. 🐶
Pip Moyer Teen Fun Day 😎
AA County schools are closed on Monday (11/25), and the Pip Moyer Rec Center has a solution for your bored teens. They are offering a daytime pop-up (similar to their Teen Nights) where teens (13-18) can have some fun while school’s out. Come on down for an e-gaming tournament, Just Dance, volleyball, basketball, and rock climbing between 10am and 3pm — 273 Hilltop Lane, Annapolis
Madeline’s Birthday Blood Drive 🥳🩸
Madeline Hoffner, owner of At the Core Physical Therapy, takes the cake for birthday celebrations. She’s celebrating her 33rd birthday on December 2 with a blood drive at 129 Lubrano Dr. in Annapolis. After Luminis Health’s team saved her life with massive transfusions on January 8, Madeline is giving back—hoping to collect at least 19 units of blood, the same she needed that day. In true birthday party fashion, she’s also giving donors snacks, candy, orange juice, balloons, photos, a special gift bag, and a free Barre class from Barre Forward! Did we mention your donation could save a life? Hurry — only a few time slots remain.
