🍦Who won the EYC Lights Parade?

Goal line stand, Galway Bay turns 25, vote for Beans...

TOGETHER WITH

Good morning, Annapolis. If Annapolis is only Travel + Leisure’s 15th best Christmas town in America, I can’t imagine how good number one is.

In today’s Naptown Scoop:

  • Army’s goal line stand

  • Galway Bay turns 25

  • Vote for Beans

Let’s get to it.

— Ryan Sneddon, Rebecca Kraybill, & Lauren Burke Meyer

P.S. Happy birthday to Barb Kappel! 🎂

Who won the Eastport Yacht Club Lights Parade?

Good news: the USA Today rankings are finalized and the EYC Lights Parade is officially the #4 holiday parade in the country! Number one in my book though.

Well done to all 51 boats who entered and thanks to whoever did the good weather dance. I could get used to 50ÂşF December Saturdays.

And in case you didn’t know, EYC actually does crown winners. We’ve got the full list of 8 winners as well as the full Scoop on LOOKINGGLASS, the incredible boat with all the flashy lights, dancers, and smoke machines.

LOCAL BUSINESS

Vote for Pedro Beans

If you’ve ever been to McGarvey’s, you know (and love) Beans. Well, he needs our help. He’s not in trouble. He’s just up to be Bar Boss 2023. If he wins, he gets $10,000 and his picture on the front of Bartender Magazine. You can vote for free once a day. Or you can give Beans lots of votes by donating to the Kind Campaign. $1 = 1 vote. Do both here before December 14. Oh by the way, Beans is in first place but I never take my foot off the gas.

Galway Bay hits a milestone anniversary

25 years ago, Michael Galway and Anthony Clarke decided to bring a slice of their homeland to Maryland Ave. Galway Bay’s been serving up Irish whiskey, Scoop’s favorite shepherd’s pie, and Emerald Isle hospitality ever since. The beloved pub has even won awards like “Best Irish Restaurant,” “Best Irish Pub,” and “Best Whiskey Experience in the Americas.” Sláinte to 25 years and here’s to 25 more!

P.S. Next time you’re strolling through festive Maryland Ave, stop into Galway (or order online) to bring home their authentic and amazing egg nog this Christmas. It sells out fast!

Midnight Madness special: West Street Artisan Market

The first block of West Street transforms into a winter wonderland for Midnight Madness this Thursday (12/14). Kinda like Dinner Under the Stars except shopping instead of eating. Oh yeah and a human hamster ball and Santa’s pony. 5–9 PM on Thursday (12/14).

The next step on your yoga journey

If you've practiced yoga for a while, you've probably thought, "I want to do teacher training but I DON’T want to teach!” Well, this is for you. Yoga Factory is offering a unique workshop this January. It's a 3-day Bikram breakdown where you'll learn about the Bikram system just like it's taught in teacher training.

You'll receive individual help on every asana (pose), expand your mind-body connection, and strengthen your yoga community. It's the best training you'll ever get without actually becoming a teacher.

WHAT’S HAPPENIN’

Last week to enter 🎄NSFEHJHC🎄

No disrespect to Buddy the Elf. But the best way to spread Christmas cheer isn’t singing loud for all to hear. It’s decorating your house. Lucky for you, there’s still time to enter our first-ever holiday home decorating contest. Submit a picture of your decked-out house by 11:59 PM on Thursday (12/14).

The winner scores $550 in local gift cards and a full feature of their house on the Scoop newsletter and Instagram. We’re rooting for you!

NYE tasting at Leo

If closing out 2023 with delicious food is your kind of celebration, this one’s for you. Chef Matt Lego is offering a three-course tasting dinner at Leo on New Year’s Eve. It’s an epic food journey that starts with amuse bouche (yeah we had to look it up, too) and ends with triple chocolate devil’s food cake. Learn about this and other events in our New Year’s Eve roundup.

Goal line stand seals Army-Navy game for second year in a row

It’s fitting that a game with such pomp and circumstance as Army-Navy would come down to a last-minute goal line stand. That actually makes it two years in a row. Unfortunately, neither have gone Navy’s way. The Mids lost the final game of their season to archrival Army on Saturday, 17–11. ($)
