THE DIGEST

Epping Forest story correction

Hey Scoop. Ryan here. We goofed yesterday in our Epping Forest Marina story. First, we should never have published it since it affects such a small (yet very important) part of Annapolis. And second, we got some things wrong. I’m sorry for our error. Here’s what we goofed and what’s actually true, according to a trusted source in the neighborhood:

🚤 Epping Forest Boat Club members will be responsible for the marina financing, but residents who are not Boat Club members won’t see any new marina charges.

🚤 The community vote complied with community bylaws, and the results were 118 for and 63 against (not 115 for and 64 against, as originally reported in the Capital).

Western Shore Veterinary Hospital offers your pets the finest wellness care, state-of-the-art diagnostics, dental treatment, and surgery ranging from spays/neuters to sophisticated treatments. You can find them online, by phone at 443-936-0660, or at 910C Bestgate Road, Annapolis, MD 21401.

Dog of the Week: Meet Campbell 🐾

Back in January, a certain somebody (okay, his name is Campbell) arrived at the SPCA. He was less than a year old at the time, and now he’s only 1 year and 4 months — still a puppy, even though he’s a big pit bull mix. And in addition to his big size, he’s got a big heart. The SPCA says he’s friendly and energetic, loves going on long walks, and gets along with other dogs. Sounds like he needs a home that can match his energy and affection for a long time. Stop by Wing 1 of the SPCA to meet Campbell in person.

LOCAL BUSINESS

Sizzling Hot Steak Sale 🄩

Omaha Steaks has been at the Annapolis Harbour Center for almost 30 years, but the company is much much older. It’s turning 108 this year and to celebrate, the entire store is 50% off and you can get an additional 10% when you show this coupon through August 10.

P.S. This isn’t sponsored. We just love a good deal on steaks and other delightful foods.

Dream Baby DĆ©cor šŸ¤°šŸ¼šŸ‘¶šŸ»

Dream Baby DĆ©cor will replace the Mattress Store in a shopping center across from the Annapolis Mall on General’s Hwy. The shop — which sells everything from baby and toddler clothing to furniture and maternity items — is moving into a space nearly twice the size of its current store (soon to be showroom) on Chinquapin Round Rd. Founded by local mom Amy Tech, she plans to open the new store later this summer.

Meanwhile, the Mattress Store still operates a Chester location with a new Annapolis shop coming soon — is offering to cover your Bay Bridge toll and lunch if you buy at their Eastern Shore store. ($)

That’s Not the Deck You Remember

A few seasons of rain, pollen, and mildew will do that. What used to be your favorite hangout now looks dull, dingy, and a little sad.

Blue Heron Property Services can change that. Their washing method gently removes grime without damaging the wood—no streaks, no splinters, no pressure washer gouges. Just clean, bright boards that make your whole backyard feel brand new.

Annapolis homeowners trust Blue Heron to bring their decks back to life. Ready to love yours again?

IMG Academy Joins Navy's Roster of Foundation Schools āš“ļøšŸŒŸ

Florida’s elite IMG Academy is now an official Foundation School for the Naval Academy Alumni Association’s Athletics & Scholarships Program (A&SP). USNA AD Michael Kelly calls the partnership ā€œa natural fit.ā€ Known for developing top-tier student-athletes, IMG will help prepare future mids through a post-grad year focused on academic and athletic readiness. The move strengthens Navy’s recruiting pipeline and extends A&SP’s reach (already supporting 4,000+ USNA grads) beyond the Chesapeake. IMG is the 16th foundation school to join A&SP, which has sent an average of 45 candidates annually to prep schools over the past five years — about 30% of them recruited athletes. ($)

🤩 Star Sightings: IMG launched as the Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy, producing Serena and Venus Williams, Maria Sharapova, and golf greats Emiliano Grillo and Nelly Korda. Current pro alumni include Vikings QB JJ McCarthy, Nationals outfielder James Wood, and Grizzlies center Zach Edey.
