THE DIGEST

ZIPS & Annapolis Hope

Another business has stepped up to help Annapolis Hope. ZIPS Cleaners at 1955 West Street is donating 5% of sales every Wednesday through August 14. Thanks to owner, Jole, for coming to us unsolicited with this generous offer!

We are 68% of the way to helping the Mireles family purchase their home following the loss of their breadwinner in a tragic shooting. And with just about a month to go, the finish line is in sight! Still don’t know what Annapolis Hope is? Check this out.

J. McLaughlin: A Sip & Shop Success

Thanks to all of you who sipped, shopped, and scooped up some fashionable finds at the J. McLaughlin Annapolis Hope fundraiser last week. We also want to thank manager Alyssa and her team for coordinating with us on this fun event and for helping us get even closer to our fundraising goal.

Annapolis Blues fall to Virginia Dream FC in 2-0 loss

Welp, the match on Saturday did not go our way. Despite some solid tries and tricky saves, our Blues lost to Virginia Dream FC, ending their run in the NPSL playoffs. Over 8,000 fans braved the MD mugginess to support.

At the Scoop, we love our Annapolis Blues, so let’s reflect on some of the great achievements from this season:

  • Shattered NPSL attendance records with 11,171 fans turning out for the home opener (which they won 6-2).

  • 9 wins and only 1 loss on the season.

  • Beat out 88 other teams to rank #1 in overall NPSL standings

  • In just two seasons, the Blues hold the top 9 most attended games in league history.

  • 3 members of the Blues nominated for NPSL Awards: Leo Palomo for Mid-Atlantic Conference MVP, Owen Allegro for Golden Glove, and Colin Herriot for Coach of the Year. (Psst: You can vote here for your favorites! 😉)

Thanks for all your hard work this season, Blues! We can’t wait til next season. 💙
